Baby Proofing Magnetic Cabinet Locks

We have depended on all sorts of child locks and safety gear to keep our young child and his curious hands from harm.

Also, we wanted to prevent an unnecessary mess from our toddler pulling everything out of our cabinets in every room by babyproofing with magnetic locks.

How To Install Magnetic Cabinet Locks

First, use the provided alcohol wipes to wipe off the areas where the latch and magnetic lock will be adhered to. The wipe will help remove any oil or residue to provide better adhesion.

Now let’s install the striker/latch on the cabinet. Use the provided ruler to help choose an ideal location for the lock. Make sure that your placement won’t interfere with the screws on the cabinet door.

adding the striker to the cabinet

Install the striker/latch and hold it down firmly for a few seconds on the front edge of the cabinet.

Next, install the guide/cradle onto the striker/latch.

Now take one of the magnetic cabinet locks, pull the film off the adhesive, and insert it into the guide. Make sure that the lock isn’t activated by pushing the lever up.

Now close the cabinet door. This will place the magnetic cabinet lock onto the cabinet door. This is when you can test to make sure that the magnetic lock works on your cabinet.

Test your magnetic cabinet lock with the lock key after enabling it to lock by pushing the lever down.

If the lock works on your cabinet, open the door and press down firmly on the lock for a few seconds to attach permanently. You can still detach the lock in the future with a hairdryer.

Make sure to wait 24 hours before using the locks to allow the adhesive to cure.

The final step is to attach the round magnetic key at least 6 feet high away from little children. Oh, and don’t forget to take the guide off. You’ll need it when you install the next lock.

Now you can rest easy knowing your little ones are not wandering around in your cabinets and causing all sorts of havoc.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a good day!
