Flylady Baby Steps Day 2 – Get Up and Get Dressed to Shoes

Welcome to Flylady Baby Steps Day 2 for getting your home and life in order. I’m going through the Flylady Baby Steps with you. So here is my cute clipboard to keep track of all of the steps.

Flylady Baby Step Day 2

For Flylady Baby Step Day 2, we need to get up and get dressed to laced up shoes right when our feet hit the floor. That means that we need to get dressed, fix our hair, brush our teeth, and do anything else that you need to do to be ready for the day.

Outfit for the day

Oops!

But to be honest with you, I already failed this baby step today.

My kids woke me up. So instead of getting dressed, I got up and made myself a cup of coffee. Yum!

I don’t know how you wake up. But I always get woken up bright and early to a question, “what’s for breakfast?”

So while I drank my cup of coffee, I also fed my hungry little kids. Or else, we’d all start our day on the wrong side of the bed.

Yes, I know that I can set the alarm to wake up earlier. But I prefer waking up with the kids because they already wake up bright and early.

Get Dressed

When my kids finish eating their breakfast, they usually run off to play independently. This is the best opportunity to get things done because they don’t need my attention unless I need to be a referee.

So I went straight to my room to continue practicing the Flylady Baby Steps. I got my socks out, my pants out, and everything else that I need to complete my outfit for the day.

Then I went to the bathroom, took a quick shower, and brushed my teeth. I personally love brushing my teeth after we eat our breakfast, especially if I had a cup of coffee in the morning.

Dressed to Shoes?

By this point, I felt so confident, ready to tackle the day. But I’m still not finished getting ready by Flylady’s terms.

Flylady wants us to get ready from head to shoes.

So, I got out a pair of shoes that I washed the night before to make sure they were extra clean.

Honest Opinion

To be honest with you, I wasn’t going to put the shoes on, but the Flylady says from this book, “Getting up and getting dressed makes you feel whole. That means getting dressed to your shoes. Walking around in your sock feet may be comfy, but it won’t give you the can-do energy you need to face your day and your home and your life with confidence and strength.”

And “Your whole day will be more productive if you will just do this little thing. As soon as you get up in the morning, get dressed to shoes.”

Shoes Inside the House?

Wearing a clean pair of shoes

We usually don’t wear shoes inside the house, but Flylady insists on wearing your lace-up shoes for a more productive day. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do! I’m going to try it out because if I don’t like it, I can stop.

I took Flylady’s advice and washed a pair of old laced up shoes. I will not wear these shoes outside even if I have to take the garbage out or take the dog out. This way, I won’t bring any extra dirt inside our home.

First Reaction

I loved my puppy’s reaction right when I put on my shoes. He really wanted to go outside when he saw my shoes on my feet. It was cute!

I did feel like I can tackle my whole to-do list after getting dressed all the way to shoes. How about you?

Flylady Baby Steps Day 2 Summary

That’s it for Flylady Baby Step Day 2.

Dressed to shoes – PC to my oldest son

First, we need to get dressed to shoes, which I already did. Also, I need to have a shiny sink at nighttime, which is to wash the dishes and just wipe the sink down. We don’t need to scrub the whole sink, just a quick wipe.

Clean Sink

I’ll also need to lay out my clothes for tomorrow. This way, it’ll be a little faster for me to get ready in the morning.

I want to share another quote by Flylady, “your before-bed routine is the most important routine of the day.”

Helpful Tip

Use post-it notes to remind you of the habits that you’re building. Write down on a sticky note “get dressed” and stick it on your bathroom mirror to remind you to get ready for the day.

post it note: get dressed

Add another sticky note next to your sink. To remind you to keep your sink shiny!

Post it note: Shine your sink
